Dr. Brooke Parish received her BA at Agnes Scott college and her M.D. from the University of Tennessee. She did a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Tulane University. She completed the classwork for an MPH in international health. She received an APA sponsored fellowship as a legislative fellow and worked with Senator Enzi on several bills. She returned to Tulane to complete a Forensics fellowship. Then joined the faculty at the University of New Mexico. Positions held included Associate Vice Chair for patient safety and quality and Vice Chair of Clinical services in the Department of Psychiatry, and the Executive Medical Director for Utilization Management for University of New Mexico Hospitals.
She has worked for the Joint Commission as a surveyor for over 15 years. Currently, she is an Executive Medical Director -BH for HCSC and continues her practice as locum tenens in NM as an Internal Medicine Hospitalist and as a Medical Officer for the National Disaster Medical System. She has lectured extensively on topics related to the interface of medicine and psychiatry, wellness, telehealth/AI, and disaster medicine. She serves on the APA assembly and was the New Mexico district branch’s president.
